The custom nature of our work doesn't allow for a
set price. We have a formula to estimate the
cost of your work. Approximate cost of a screen with one sided shoji
(kumiko covered on back with insert material) is $29.00 per square
foot. Double sided ( kumiko has insert material between two layers)
is $38.00 per square foot. This includes traditional rice paper.
All in Bass, a beautiful wood similar to Maple in look, lightweight,
with much more stability.
- Add $60.00 per screen for finish.
- Add $100.00 to $200.00 per screen for thick, durable, laminated
ricepaper insert material.
- Measure the opening to be filled, rounding off to the next lineal
foot (6'8" rounds off to 7').
- Multiply; length times width. This equals square footage.
- Determine if you want one sided ($29) or two sided ($38) shoji.
- Multiply the sq. ft of shoji times cost per square foot.
- Add $125.00 per additional door (sq. ft. price includes one
door only).
- This is an approximate cost of Bass shojiscreens.
EXAMPLE:
- The opening is 6' wide by 6'8'' tall (round to 7')
- 6 x 7 = 42 sq.ft.: 42 x $29.00 + $125 (2nd door) = $1343.00
+ $120.00 (finish for 2 doors) = $1463.00
- Add $300 for 9' to 12' single metal track and matching valance.
- The approx. cost of a two-door, one-sided kumiko, (kumiko design
taken from the typical drawings) is approx. $1763.00 FOB Portland.
Fax or mail us the drawings for your job. kumiko (grid)
can be made any way you like. Note if there are side jambs to match,
casing (trim) to match, an alternate insert material, finish of
your choice, koshita (solid panel at bottom of shoji), track-hanging
door system, exotic wood, heavy rails and stiles etc. Any of which
increases the cost of your job.
NOTE: All orders are custom made. If you order and cancel there will be a charge of 15% deducted from the deposit before it is returned. Additional charges will be deducted for what ever work is already in progress. This includes cost of wood, track, insert material and any labor at the shop rate of $95.00 per hour.
