• Accurate opening measurements
• Scale drawings or pictures if available
• Selection of kumiko style, addition of Koshiita?
• Type of insert material in kumiko (paper or plastic?)
• Number of screens or doors
• Track type or hinge
• Wood species of choice
• Finish of choice
• Timeline

You can fax or phone your order using the numbers below, or send your order via email using our online form. Shipping costs vary, shipping is usually overland and there is a charge for crating.

Payment can be check or charge card. One half of quote is required to start work, one quarter to ship, balance within 5 days of delivery. There will be an additional charge if terms are not met in a timely fashion. (Visa cards are excellent for ordering; most credit companies pay for any damage or theft.)

If in the Portland, Seattle, Eugene area of the USA, arrangements can be made to meet at my shop, your customer's jobsite or company office.
 

All shoji are made to order at this time. I do quotes based on the info you give me. All prices are “by the job”. A drawing emailed to me is the best thing. An alternate would be sending pictures of the existing opening, and measurements of said opening. I will email you a price and usually can send you pictures of something I have already done that is similar.

Example #1 A single shoji, 3’ wide by 6’8’ tall. Alder wood in Superior grade, double sided kumiko (grid), nice ricepaper, koshi-ita panel (wood panel at door bottom) and a beautiful satin lacquer finish. No hardware or tracks. Cost: $1278.00. FOB my shop With 1.0mm Warlon acrylic (washi paper substitute) $1378.

Example #2 An opening 6’ wide by 6/8” tall with 2 shoji. Alder wood in Superior grade, double sided kumiko, Nice ricepaper paper, koshi-ita panel, 6’ double metal track, valance box, bottom wood track and hardware for 2 doors, satin lacquer finish. Cost: $2901 FOB my shop With 1.0mm Warlon Acrylic plastic $3101 If single sided kumiko: $2891 (with acrylic)

“Thanks to Sarah in Quebec, Canada for the before and after pictures”. “Note the angled wall on the left of the before picture? I cut that 45 degree angle on one of the doors and added jambs on each side. The track box was cut to fit. Extra wide jambs, angle on the door edge and angled valance box added $390 to the cost for this job.” Your custom additions will vary the cost.

NOTE: All orders are custom made. If you order and cancel there will be a charge of 15% deducted from the deposit before it is returned. Additional charges will be deducted for what ever work is already in progress. This includes cost of wood, track, insert material and any labor at the shop rate of $95.00 per hour.
